Karl's Kommentary: Tapping into the Power!
Just like Christmas and Easter, the Day of Pentecost is a "High and Holy Day" for any follower of Jesus. Looking at Acts 2, if it were not for the Day of Pentecost, you and I would not be part of this church or any church! It was the Holy Spirit who came down "like a rush of a mighty wind," and empowered the Disciples, making them into Apostles, and sending them into the world to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ! The Holy Spirit made them become THE Body of Christ in the world!! Therefore, the Day of Pentecost truly was the birthday of the Church!
And since, "I am the Church, You are the Church, We are the church together," (to quote a song), WE ARE the Body of Christ in the world TODAY! WE ARE inspired and empowered by the Holy Spirit! WE ARE the ones sent into the world to tell the Good News of Jesus!!
Pentecost Sunday is May 19th. Let's use this "High and Holy Day" to remind ourselves that God has empowered us to do great things in Jesus' name! God has empowered us to spread the Good News! WE ARE THE CHURCH!! So let's BE the Church!
