Advent & Christmas Worship 2016

November 27: First Sunday of Advent (9:00 & 11:00 a.m.)

The service features lighting the Advent Wreath, special music by Jonah Blades at 9:00 and by Madison Clemons at 11:00, and the message “It Is Time for Joy!” Throughout the month there will be a bulletin insert for Honorary & Memorial Poinsettias.

December 4: Second Sunday of Advent (9:00 & 11:00 a.m.)

The service features lighting the Advent Wreath, special music by Lauren van Mullem, Shellie Milliron, Kamryn Murphy, and Allison Milliron, and the message “It Is Time for Light!”

December 11: Third Sunday of Advent: Confirmation Sunday
(9:00 & 11:00 a.m.)

The service features lighting the Advent Wreath, the baptisms of Braelyn & Blaise Luneau, and the confirmation of our young people. The service includes special art for the confirmands, special performance of “Mary, Did You Know?” by Richard Kleinpeter at 9:00 and by Denise Michael at 11:00, and the message “It Is Time for Mercy!” Children are invited to stay in worship for confirmation. There will not be children’s church.

December 18: Fourth Sunday of Advent: Tapestry of Light Choir Cantata (10:30 a.m.)

Our one service features lighting of the Advent Wreath and the Choir Cantata. During the Cantata all of the children are invited to meet in the children’s ministry room for the “Children’s Birthday Party for Jesus”. There will not be children’s or youth Sunday School. Each adult Sunday School class will decide their own plans for the morning.

December 24: Christmas Eve Candle Light Communion
(4:30 & 6:00 p.m.)

Two identical services are offered to accommodate our 300+ worshipers. They both feature the honorary & memorial poinsettias, Christmas carols with a brass ensemble, special performance of “Welcome to Our World” by Henry Bennett at 4:30 and by Denise Michael at 6:00, special performance of “O Holy Night” by Kamryn Murphy at 4:30 and by Katie Smith at 6:00, a mission offering for the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home, creative telling of the Christmas story, Holy Communion, and the singing of “Silent Night” by candle light.

December 25: Christmas Day Communion (10:30 a.m.)

Our one service features a blend of Christmas music led by our organist and by our praise team, the message “Memorable Gifts”, and Holy Communion. There will not be children’s church or children’s or youth Sunday School. Each adult Sunday School class will decide their own plans for the morning.

January 1: New Year’s Day Communion (10:30 a.m.)

Our one service features a blend of music led by our organist and by our praise team, the message “Auld Lang Sayne”, and Holy Communion. There will not be children’s church or children’s or youth Sunday School. Each adult Sunday School class will decide their own plans for the morning.
